Blog - First English - Svo á íslensku

    English

Well we are down to our final words of our trip.

We are back in Iceland, but I always needed to finnish our final days from January 2nd – January 8th.

We actually did not do much. Went to the splash/sliding park again, visited ABC children some more were they told us about their experience of the trip they had with us. They (even though they live in Africa) had never seen those animals but in books. They are of course poor city children that had never experienced much outside their surroundings.

One of the boys told us he thought Lake Naivasha was the biggest lake in the whole world. He had never seen the ocean or big lakes like this one and thought it was endless.

It was absolutely great to visit with those children, they are so special and honest ;o)

We then had dinner with Thorunn, Sammy and Sigurros. Thorunn´s children were there as well along with our friends George and Doylene. The dinner was fabulous A-LA Thorunn ;o)

    Thank you sooo much !!!

We then also went out for dinner with Richard who works with Gisli (he is from Kenya) along with his wife (Iva) and his children. They are so great and fun to talk to.

Yes, this is how our days passed. We ate, laid by the pool, wandered in malls when needed and just relaxed.

I have to put in something Katla said one day when we were discussing Obama and when he would be the president of the USA she stared at us and said:

    -          When did they hang Bush?

Hehehehe, the things that come out of children sometimes ;O)

Well now we are just exhausted after our 37 hour trip home. We flew the same way back, Nairobi, Kenya to Doha, Qatar and on to London, England where we landed at 7 in the morning. Then we were off to Iceland at 1430.

I heard a great poem on my way home, it was actually in the movie “In her shoes”. This poem is by E.E. Cummings and reminded me of our little angels in Africa and about the faboulus job that Thorunn is doing there. She gets all the credit from us for the unselfish and unbelievably hard work that she is doing there!

Anyways, here is the poem and thank you all who have read about our family adventures throughout the years ;O)

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)

    I am never without it

    (Anywhere I go you go, my dear;

And whatever is done by only me

    is your doing, my darling)

    I fear no fate

(for you are my fate, my sweet)

    I want no world

(for beautiful you are my world, my true)

And it's you are whatever a moon has always meant

and whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows

(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

    and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;

which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

Ég heyrði frábært ljóð þegar ég var á leiðinni heim, það var reyndar í myndinni „In her shoes“.

Takk ,takk . Mamma ( Stefanía )
